Care Instructions
To clean your Patrol Winter remove all loose dirt with a soft shoe brush. If necessary, go in with a clean, soft shoe brush to apply some lukewarm water and a mild cleaning solution. Wipe any excess product with a moist cloth. Air dry at room temperature after cleaning or when the shoes got wet.
The Patrol Winter is not machine washable.

The boots look pretty good for vegan leather, sizing was just a hair large. The gusset around the tongue rubs against my ankles over long periods of time, but it's not blistering just a bit uncomfortable. Soles are on the hard side for barefoot boots but are comfortable for long periods of time. These are definitely pretty warm! Overall pretty good boots, but not quite as luxurious as I was hoping for at $130.

However, we apologize for the discomfort you're experiencing with the gusseted tongue rubbing against your ankles. The gusset is designed to ensure that the boot remains completely waterproof and prevents water from leaking in from above and through the eyelets. Most of our customers don’t find this to be an issue, but we understand that comfort is subjective.
Wearing the boots regularly may help, as the gusseted tongue should settle down more smoothly over time. Additionally, you might try folding the gusset piece outward and tucking it under the laces for added comfort.

I love my fall water resistant patrols so had to try the winter version. At first I thought they were too tight but they quickly (after 1 wear) relaxed and feel like wearing slippers. The sole is a little thicker than the lighter version but still gives amazing barefoot feel. I find these fit true to size even with wool socks. Glad I didn’t size up.
When I lived in the city these were great boots for walking around in the winter. Great grip on ice. But then I moved into an RV and my (non-barefoot) hiking boots fell apart early in the season. Having no other boots, I slipped on my patrol boots from feelgrounds and have not used another hiking shoe since! Last year I put 250 miles on them, and this year I'm up to about 200 so far and they've held up great. The waterproof feature is amazing for hikes where you have to go through puddles or small creeks and the agility I get from being able to actually feel the ground and the rocks beneath me is unmatched. I used to twist my ankles all the time stepping on rocks or in depressions on the trail but switching to barefoot shoes (and doing some balance work to strengthen my foot muscles) has completely gotten rid of that problem for me. I will never buy another type of shoe!
I also have the knit high tops for the gym (great for engagement and stability) and the original mesh for walking around in the summer.
